Virginia’s Right to Work is a cornerstone of our Commonwealth. Last week, Senator Dick Saslaw sponsored legislation, SB 426, that seeks to repeal this policy and introduce “Fair Share Fees.”
This bill “Authorizes an employer, pursuant to an agreement between the employer and a labor union or labor organization, to require as a condition of employment any employee who is not a member of such labor union or labor organization and is a member of a collective bargaining unit, where the labor union or labor organization is the exclusive representative of the members of the collective bargaining unit, to pay a fair share fee to compensate the labor union or labor organization for the costs of representing the nonmember employee.” (emphasis added)
Our current Right to Work laws ensure Virginia is one of the tops states in which to do business; repealing them would be bad for Virginia economy.
SB 426, the “Fair Share Fees” bill must be stopped. You can join us and help get involved in the effort!
