Meet Martin Kent
President & COO, United Company
Martin serves as the President & Chief Operating Officer of The United Company, a diversified private investment company with primary concentrations in the energy, healthcare and recreation and leisure sectors. He leads the Company as it pursues business acquisitions and seeks new opportunities for future growth. Additionally, he serves as President of the Board of Bristol Regional Medical Center and the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Mountain Empire.
Martin served in numerous executive roles in Virginia during fifteen years of service in state government including Chief of Staff to the Governor as well as Chief Deputy Attorney General. In those roles he oversaw the daily operations of state government, interaction with the Virginia General Assembly, the federal government, Governors’ and Attorneys’ General Offices of other states, as well as legal representation of all state agencies. Prior to working in state government, he practiced law in his family firm in Southern Virginia primarily handling litigation matters.
Martin has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and a J.D. from Mercer University. In addition to being a licensed attorney, he is also a CPA.
